Clare Cole

(Back from my travels and blogging again!) Even though it's more decorative art than fine art, I wanted to include Clare Cole's work here because she does something with embroidery that is my own fascination: stitching on seemingly impenetrable surfaces like porcelain. My good friend Jessica V. sent me a link to her work years ago and I've been hunting for the link to her work again. Found it! Cole stitches on wallpapers, fabrics, creates stitched accessories and does interior design. But her stitched tea-sets are art to me.

Crocodile Tears - Giant Robot Show NYC - 7/19-8/13

Being waylaid by crazy deadlines for my next book and an impending, franco-arkansan family reunion, I've not had much time to blog about artful embroidery. But, I did manage to find the time to make some. This little piece of abstract stitching on bristol (along with three others) will be included in a group show at Giant Robot Gallery, NYC, opening July 19th and running through August 13th.

Kind readers please note: I will be traveling this upcoming week and probably not blogging much until I get back.
