Cécile Jarsaillon

Some of my favorite works at the exhibition in Lille were by Cécile Jarsaillon. She is best known for her paintings (and for her involvement in the rock group Les Supremes Dindes). But, her foray into embroidery is really unique: she does open satin stitching over photos which lends an eerie quality where the simplicity of the lines in thread are underscored by the gradations of color from the photo.
