Artforum

After an unintended month-long hiatus from this blog, learning that Faythe Levine's Handmade Nation (along with a peek at my work and workspace) is featured in the February issue of Artforum -I decided I better get back to it. Also seen in this issue: Jenine Bressner, Nikki McClure and dear, sweet much-missed friend Whitney Lee.

Washington Post Cover

I can now reveal my first foray into cross-stitching. This cover for the Washington Post magazine ran this past Sunday, October 31st, 2010. True, I didn't tell the editor I had never really worked in cross-stitch before, but I figured it was time that I tried it. I have new insights into cross-stitching that have inspired me in ways I really didn't expect. It was challenging for me, but I also found it enthralling in many ways I hadn't expected.

Press: Plus One

There's an article on Faythe Levine's HandMade Nation documentary in the current issue of +1 magazine. The piece opens with an image of my Marianne Faithfull.

Italian Vogue / March 2009

I'm in Vogue Italy (March), included in a piece about contemporary crafting and needlework. Their editor very kindly sent me a PDF of the article, but I am going to scour the newsstands to get a hard copy so I can kinda try to read what it says (and run it through google translate). And clutch it to my chest in disbelief. Oh, and that photo was taken by my good friend, Aubrey Edwards. It originally ran in Juxtapoz Magazine June 2007 to accompany an interview. (Man, I really need to update my press. We're working on a shiny, new site.)

Also, this week is SXSW craziness here in Austin, so blogging has been sporadic but will resume shortly. You might want to wander over to Sublime Stitching where we have a new line of patterns available (Artist Series: Daniel Johnston).

Lamono, a slick little art digest from Barcelona, Spain appeared in my mailbox yesterday. My work is featured in this issue. You can download the entire issue as pdf from their site, or download the interview (it's in Spanish) as a pdf here:
